Lease-On Owner-Operator FAQs
What is the lease-on program at ON Logistics Corp?
Our lease-on program allows independent owner-operators to run under our authority while benefiting from high-paying freight, dispatching support, compliance assistance, and back-office services. We handle the administrative side, so you can focus on driving and earning.
What type of freight do you haul?
We specialize in flatbed hotshot and big rig freight, including:
- Construction materials
- Manufacturing equipment
- Automotive parts
- Energy & oilfield equipment
- General freight
- Expedited loads
What pay structures do you offer?
We provide three flexible pay structures:
- 40% Lease-On Rate – Covers factoring, dispatching, insurance, compliance, and permits. Best for drivers who want full support.
- 30% Lease-On Rate – Covers dispatching and compliance, but drivers handle their own insurance and fuel costs.
- 15% Lease-On Rate – Ideal for self-sufficient operators who manage their own dispatching, factoring, and compliance.
What equipment do I need to lease on?
You must have your own:
- Truck (Dually for hotshot or semi-truck for big rig)
- Trailer (Flatbed preferred)
- Tarp, chains, and straps (for securing loads)
If you need assistance securing a truck and trailer, we can help—just ask!
Do I need my own insurance?
- If you’re on the 40% plan, your insurance is covered by us.
- If you’re on the 30% or 15% plans, you must provide your own commercial trucking insurance.
Do I need my own IRP (Apportioned Plates)?
No! We handle IRP registration and apportioned plates as part of our one-time onboarding fee, so you’re fully set up under our authority.
What are the onboarding fees, and what do they cover?
- $1,500 for Hotshot Drivers
- $2,500 for Big Rig Drivers
This covers:
- Carrier onboarding & compliance setup
- ELD registration & setup
- Load board & dispatch integration
- IRP registration & apportioned plates (state fees included)
How do I get loads?
We’ve partnered with Dispatch4Lyfe, one of the best dispatching services in the industry. They ensure you have steady, high-paying loads with minimal downtime.
Can I choose my own loads?
Yes! We offer load flexibility, meaning you have the option to accept or decline loads based on your preferences and schedule.
Do you offer fuel discounts or factoring?
Yes! Lease-on operators get access to fuel cards with discounts and factoring services to ensure fast, reliable payment on completed loads.
What areas do you operate in?
We cover local, regional, and select OTR routes, primarily in:
- Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio
- Parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina
Is it better to lease on or run my own trucking company?
It depends on your goals and experience. Leasing on with ON Logistics Corp provides:
- Lower overhead costs – We handle IRP, compliance, and permits, saving you thousands upfront.
- Steady freight & support – No need to chase loads or manage back-office tasks.
- Reduced financial risk – No MC authority fees, insurance down payments, or startup costs.
- Flexibility – You still control your schedule and load choices.
Running your own company means full independence, but it also comes with higher costs, regulatory responsibilities, and financial risks. Leasing on is often the best choice for owner-operators who want to maximize earnings without the stress of running a full-fledged carrier operation.
